Handles need to be replaced with the handle strips. If the spindle is stripped then a new operator may be needed. Usually the handle strips first since the spindle is usually made of steel, and the handle of aluminum. Continuing to crank the window after it is closed or to try and force the window closed will strip the handle. Window Operators control the sash on casement and awning windows. Turning the handle causes the sash to open or close. Many times the crank handle or mechanics of the operators fail, strip, and need to be replaced.
